A suspect accused of raping a child in France, identified as Sujanth Ketheeswararasa, a 30-year-old Sri Lankan national, was apprehended in Liverpool by the National Crime Agency (NCA). The arrest was made by the NCA’s National Extradition Unit following a thorough investigation that led them to Liverpool city center. The NCA confirmed that Ketheeswararasa is facing allegations of assaulting a young girl in France and is being sought by the French authorities.
Clare Meehan, representing the NCA’s Joint International Crime Centre, emphasized the agency’s utmost commitment to safeguarding children from sexual exploitation. Through collaboration with both domestic and international partners, the suspect was successfully located and taken into custody.
After appearing in court in London, Ketheeswararasa was held in custody pending the commencement of extradition procedures. The 30-year-old is scheduled to virtually attend Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, November 27, for further proceedings. A comprehensive extradition hearing has been scheduled for March 26, 2026.
