“Police Seek Witnesses in Bristol Attempted Abduction”

Police are conducting a significant investigation following the apprehension of a man who allegedly attempted multiple times to force a woman into a car in a busy city setting. The incident occurred in the Clifton area of Bristol on September 30, where a man tried to push the woman into a Peugeot 207 while she screamed for help. A bystander intervened, causing the man to drive off with the woman inside the vehicle.

The car was later spotted on the A39 in Coxley, near Wells, Somerset, where the victim managed to escape. However, the man tried to coerce her back into the car before fleeing the scene when other vehicles arrived. Subsequently, in Coxley, the man drove the car at the victim, forcing her back inside before driving away. The vehicle eventually stopped at a small car park on Rowdens Road, where the victim sought help from three individuals before being forcibly taken away by the suspect.

The man fled the scene while the three individuals who aided the victim provided her with transportation to safety. Detectives are eager to speak with these individuals as potential key witnesses. DC Kirsty Richards described the incidents as “truly shocking” and urged the public to come forward with any relevant information to aid the investigation.

The police have identified several potential witnesses who may have observed parts of the incident or the vehicle involved. They are particularly interested in speaking with the individual who intervened in Bristol, any drivers in Coxley, and the three men who assisted the victim in Wells. Providing crucial information, they could significantly contribute to the ongoing investigation. Witnesses or individuals with information are encouraged to contact the police via the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 5225274967, or by completing the online appeals form on the Avon and Somerset Police website.
