“Sydney Police Pursuit Crash Leaves Woman Critical”

A 21-year-old woman is in critical condition at a hospital in Sydney after the vehicle she was a passenger in was involved in a crash during a police pursuit. The incident occurred in Sydney’s south-west around 11 pm on Wednesday, December 10. The young woman, along with the 21-year-old female driver and another female passenger, were taken to the hospital for treatment.

According to the New South Wales Police, the incident unfolded when officers spotted a Ford Ranger allegedly speeding through a red light. A pursuit was initiated after the driver failed to stop, but it was called off shortly afterward due to safety reasons.

The police mentioned that a critical incident investigation has been launched following the crash. The pursuit resumed, leading to the Ford Ranger running another red light and colliding with a BMW sedan and a Toyota Yaris hatchback at an intersection.

The 21-year-old woman in the sedan sustained critical injuries and was promptly attended to by paramedics before being transported to the hospital. The driver of the sedan and the third passenger were also hospitalized with serious injuries. The driver of the hatchback was checked as a precaution and later discharged.

The alleged 17-year-old driver of the stolen Ford Ranger was taken to Fairfield Hospital for evaluation and is expected to be transferred to the police station upon release. It was discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen the previous week in Liverpool.

A specialized team, Strike Force Bennington, has been set up to investigate the incident independently. The Professional Standards Command will review the investigation, overseen by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission.
