“Windows 11 Update Causes Access Issues for Samsung Galaxy Book Owners”

A recent Windows 11 update from Microsoft has caused significant issues for owners of Samsung Galaxy Book devices. Users are experiencing difficulties accessing the C drive, resulting in an error message that states “C: is not accessible – Access denied.” This access blockage is preventing users from opening files and running various applications like Microsoft Outlook, Office apps, and specific web browsers.

The affected Samsung models include NP750XGJ, NP750XGL, NP754XGJ, NP754XFG, NP754XGK, DM500SGA, DM500TDA, DM500TGA, and DM501SGA. Microsoft has acknowledged the issue, attributing it to the February 2026 security update (KB5077181) and subsequent updates, leading to the loss of access to the C: drive on certain Samsung devices.

Users are encountering issues when performing common tasks such as opening files, launching applications, or executing administrative functions. The problem seems to be linked to Samsung’s Galaxy Connect app, which enables screen mirroring, file sharing, and data transfer between Galaxy smartphones and Windows PCs. The app has been temporarily removed from the Windows app store while a resolution is being developed.

Samsung has reissued a stable previous version of the application to prevent further installations, but recovery options for impacted devices are limited. Collaborating with Microsoft, Samsung is evaluating potential solutions. If you own a Samsung PC, it is advisable to hold off on updating to Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2 until a fix is released. Existing users on these versions are recommended to refrain from updating further.
