“Manhattan Building Engulfed in Flames, FDNY Responds Swiftly”

Terrifying video footage captured a Manhattan building consumed by flames, emitting thick smoke from the structure.

Responding to the incident, the New York City Fire Department announced their involvement in a social media update at 8:49 am, stating, “The FDNY is currently handling a 3-alarm fire at 201 West 107th Street in Manhattan.” Shortly after, the FDNY upgraded the fire to a four-alarm scenario.

An official update from the fire department confirmed the fire was brought under control by 10:30 am, with FDNY fire marshals investigating the cause behind the blaze.

According to Paul Miano, acting chief EMS, all three reported injuries were minor. When questioned about the fire’s origin, FDNY chief of operations, Kevin Woods, mentioned that the cause was yet to be determined.

Acknowledging the swift response, Miano praised the efforts of the fire department and EMS members in handling the situation effectively.

Chief of operations Kevin Woods reported that emergency services reached the scene within three minutes of receiving the initial report at 8:20 am. He further explained the rescue of occupants from the building, mentioning one firefighter sustained minor burns.

During a news conference, a fire official described the affected building as a six-story, non-fireproof structure with heavy damage to several apartments due to the fire.

Council member Shaun Abreu, representing various districts in Manhattan, confirmed his presence at the scene, offering assistance to those impacted. He urged residents to follow FDNY guidance for safety.

A city alert from NYC Notify advised people to steer clear of the area due to the ongoing fire, warning of potential smoke exposure and traffic disruptions.
