The girlfriend of professional golfer Jake Knapp, Makena White, has passed away at the age of 28. The couple began dating in August 2023 but made their relationship public in 2024 following Knapp’s first PGA Tour triumph at the Mexico Open.
Knapp entered the professional golf scene in 2016 and has achieved one career victory along with four top-10 finishes this year. Despite his successes, he fell short in qualifying for the Ryder Cup representing Team USA, which commenced on Friday.
White, originally from Canada, worked in the field of surgical sales, specializing in providing medical equipment to vascular and cardiac surgeons. She was known to have a strong interest in sports, particularly hockey, and developed a passion for golf from a young age.
A social media post by White’s friend confirmed the heartbreaking news of her recent passing. The message expressed deep sorrow over her loss and highlighted White’s exceptional personality, generous spirit, and love for bringing joy to those around her.
The couple was previously seen together on White’s Instagram account, sharing moments at North Berwick during the Genesis Scottish Open where Knapp finished tied for 22nd place. In one of her final Instagram posts, White openly expressed her affection for the PGA tour golfer, celebrating their journey together and looking forward to more shared experiences in the future.
