“Sabotage Hits Polish Railway: Tusk Vows Pursuit”

Poland’s Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, characterized an explosion on a vital railway route to Ukraine as an unparalleled act of sabotage. The incident occurred on the track connecting Warsaw to Lublin, which sees 115 trains daily. Despite no casualties, the potential consequences of a high-speed train derailing due to the track damage were severe.

During a visit to the crash site, Tusk confirmed the sabotage, emphasizing the seriousness of the matter. Polish authorities initiated an investigation into the explosion and a related incident from the previous weekend, both suspected to involve rail sabotage.

Tusk assured that the perpetrators would be apprehended, regardless of their supporters. Witnesses reported hearing an explosion on Saturday evening, although subsequent police checks revealed no anomalies. A damaged track section was later discovered by a regional train driver, who managed to halt before reaching it.

Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, expressed solidarity with Poland and hinted at potential Russian involvement. Estonia’s Prime Minister, Kristen Michal, condemned the railway damage, advocating for a united response against those targeting EU and NATO members.

In a separate incident, Romania evacuated two villages following a Russian drone attack on a Ukrainian port that ignited a ship carrying liquefied petroleum gas. Due to the ship’s proximity and cargo, authorities ordered the evacuation of Plauru and Ceatalchioi villages across the Danube from the affected Ukrainian port.
