To aid the investigation, Greater Manchester Police have implemented a Section 60 order until 10 am on Wednesday, allowing officers to conduct stop and searches within the specified area and timeframe. This action follows the earlier incident where a 15-year-old boy was stabbed in an alleyway on Woodlands Road in Cheetham Hill.
Reports indicate that the victim suffered serious injuries from the knife attack this afternoon, with no arrests made yet as police inquiries persist. A resident of Woodlands Road mentioned the rising occurrence of knife-related crimes, underscoring the need for vigilance in the area.
Witness Jake Ellaway recounted the events, stating, “It happened in the ginnel towards the Metrolink stop next to Woodlands Road. It kicked off around an hour and a half ago. We knew as soon as we heard the sirens coming, then saw the young lad on the floor. The paramedics turned up, then the advanced paramedics arrived. He’s been taken to hospital.” He also highlighted the frequency of knife-related incidents in the neighborhood.
A section of Woodlands Road has been cordoned off in one direction near the assault site, where the teenage boy was attacked close to the Abraham Moss tram stop. The Manchester Evening News reported that paramedics swiftly responded to the scene after the assault was reported, transporting the victim, believed to have sustained a leg injury, to the hospital.
Woodlands Road remains under cordon, with a visible presence of ambulances and police vehicles. The adjacent alleyway and the area outside the leisure center also have increased police activity.
