Malukas clocked in at 1:14.194 in the second practice session of the day, showcasing his speed on the track. Following closely behind was Alex Palou, recording a time of 1:14.560, and Dennis Hauger in third place with a time of 1:14.592 around the Markham downtown road course.
The event faced delays as the first day of track sessions had to be canceled due to incomplete course preparation and pending safety inspections. This caused a setback for organizers, but they are working diligently to ensure the remaining schedule proceeds smoothly.
Markham is hosting the race for the first time this year, marking a significant shift from its previous location at Toronto’s Exhibition Place, where it had been held since its inception in 1986.
Earlier in the day, Palou had also shown his speed by topping the timesheets in the morning’s initial practice session, clocking in at 1:14.9915. The competition is heating up as drivers fine-tune their strategies for the upcoming qualifying sessions and races ahead.
