A taxi driver miraculously survived being shot seven times and losing six pints of blood after the bullets got stuck in her fat. Brandy Littrell, aged 40, faced a life-threatening situation when a customer abducted and shot her during what seemed like an ordinary workday. Back in 2021, at the age of 36, Brandy had been driving for Lyft, a ride-sharing company, in Mississippi for five years.
In November of that year, Brandy accepted a ride request from Dontarius Magee, now 20, to pick him up. She arrived at his apartment promptly, unaware of the impending danger. Magee, who worked at a local McDonald’s, diverted the trip by brandishing a handgun and threatening Brandy.
Under duress, Brandy complied with Magee’s demands, relinquishing her car keys, Apple Watch, and moving to the backseat as he took control of the vehicle. Fearful and coerced, she followed his instructions, including divulging information about her home and her elderly grandmother, Dorothy, then 76.
In a chilling turn of events, Magee led Brandy into the woods, where he forced her to kneel at gunpoint and subsequently shot her seven times. Believing he had succeeded in his heinous act, Magee fled the scene, leaving Brandy injured but alive. Fortunately, the bullets missed vital organs, and the excess fat in her body cushioned the impact, ultimately saving her life.
After seeking help at a nearby apartment building, Brandy was rushed to the hospital, where she underwent surgery to remove the bullets. Despite the physical recovery, the emotional trauma lingered, affecting her daily life. A week post-incident, Brandy was discharged from the hospital, still grappling with the aftermath of the harrowing experience.
Following a lengthy legal process, Magee finally faced justice in April 2025, pleading guilty to charges of attempted murder, armed robbery, carjacking, and kidnapping. He received a 30-year prison sentence, while Brandy expressed her disappointment at his lack of remorse or apology, labeling him as cold and evil.
Brandy’s resilience in the face of adversity serves as a testament to her strength and determination to overcome the traumatic ordeal that forever altered her life.
