“Retired Police Officer Earns £5,500 Reporting Neglected Properties”

During the expensive holiday season, many individuals seek ways to supplement their finances post-Christmas.

Roy Foulkes, a retired police officer from West Hallam, Derbyshire, has earned over £5,500 in cash and vouchers by identifying and reporting empty and neglected properties through YouSpotProperty since 2024.

YouSpotProperty compensates individuals for pinpointing long-term vacant houses, offering a £20 Amazon or M&S voucher for identification and a 1% reward based on the purchase price if the property is acquired, renovated, and resold, up to £10,000.

Roy has received £4,750 in 1% rewards for two properties he reported, along with 39 £20 vouchers amounting to £780.

Earnings from the first property totaled £2,350, while the second property yielded £1,620, which Roy used for household items, holidays, and activities with his grandchildren.

The initial property Roy reported, qualifying for the 1% fee, was discovered during a walk in his former patrol area. Despite prior reports to the local council, no action was taken on the abandoned residence.

Spotting the second property near a former local authority house, Roy noted its deteriorated state obstructed by trees and even a discarded refrigerator, prompting him to capture images and report it.

YouSpotProperty contacted Roy to acknowledge his 1% reward of £1,620 for the second property.
