A UK region is distributing £70 supermarket vouchers to assist households in managing their expenses.
As part of the Household Support Fund, Wakefield Council is providing these vouchers to eligible households. Each council administers its own version of the fund, offering various forms of assistance such as energy support, supermarket vouchers, and cash grants.
The council targets low-income households receiving council tax support for the distribution of food vouchers. Pensioners who receive Council Tax Support have already received a £70 voucher in November, with additional vouchers planned for other eligible households.
Households in receipt of Council Tax Support will receive a £50 voucher starting December 15. Meanwhile, households in the same category will receive a £70 voucher between December 3 and December 12.
Eligible recipients do not need to apply for the vouchers as they will be automatically dispatched within 14 days of the specified dates. Wakefield Council advises residents to remain vigilant against potential scammers.

The council cautions residents about fraudulent activities, emphasizing that vouchers are always distributed through postal mail. Residents are reminded not to disclose their bank details in response to suspicious messages claiming entitlement to a Household Support Fund payment.
If you are not a Wakefield resident, it is advisable to inquire about support available through the Household Support Fund from your local council.
For instance, Blackpool Council is providing £200 energy assistance to qualifying households with up to two residents, including children, and £300 to households with three or more residents, including children.</
