“Wales Man Accused of Pretending to be Admiral at Remembrance Event”

A man from the Harlech region in Gwynedd, Wales, named Jonathan Carley, has been identified by the police following concerns from the public for allegedly pretending to be an admiral at a wreath-laying event on Remembrance Sunday. Carley, aged 64, is accused of donning a naval admiral’s uniform during the ceremony, where he was observed saluting the war memorial while wreaths were being placed.

Reportedly, the suspect was seen wearing a naval uniform with 12 medals, a move deemed disrespectful by the Royal Navy, describing the act as an affront to veterans. Among the medals was the Distinguished Service Order, an honor typically awarded to infantry officers, which has not been granted to any active Royal Navy officer in over three decades.

Carley has been charged with wearing unauthorized uniform/dress bearing the insignia of His Majesty’s Forces and is scheduled to appear at Caernarfon Magistrates’ Court on December 11. Chief Inspector Trystan Bevan emphasized the seriousness of the situation, acknowledging public concern, especially due to the timing on Remembrance Sunday. Authorities acted promptly, making an arrest and laying charges in response to the incident.

The public has been urged to refrain from engaging in online speculation and sharing content that could impact future legal proceedings.
