Tragic Collision Claims Two Lives in Co Meath

A tragic three-vehicle collision in Ireland has claimed the lives of a bus and truck driver, who have been identified as Paul Conway, in his 50s, the driver of the Bus Eireann bus, and Wesley O’Reilly, 48, the lorry driver. The incident occurred on the R132 in Gormanston, Co Meath, involving a car as well. The collision resulted in injuries to twelve individuals, including the car driver who is in critical condition at Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital.

Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene, with witnesses reporting the presence of multiple ambulances, medical vehicles, and fire engines. The road was closed for several hours as authorities conducted an investigation into the tragic event.

Paul Conway, the Bus Eireann driver, was a well-known father of seven children and a passionate hunter from Tallanstown in Co Meath. Wesley O’Reilly, a married father of three, originally from Finglas, Dublin, had relocated to Loughshinny near Skerries. A death notice for O’Reilly expressed the family’s grief and provided details for his funeral arrangements.

In a statement following the collision, the Garda highlighted the ongoing investigation at the crash site in Gormanston, Co. Meath, and requested any witnesses with relevant camera footage to come forward and assist in the inquiry.

Bus Eireann acknowledged the involvement of one of its buses in the collision and assured cooperation with emergency services. Updates on the incident will be provided as more information becomes available.
