“Breaking Bad” Actor RJ Mitte Dies at 34

Actor and champion for disability rights, RJ Mitte, known for his portrayal of a character with cerebral palsy on the acclaimed series “Breaking Bad,” passed away on Monday at the age of 34, as confirmed by authorities and his representatives. Cameron County Justice of the Peace Cyndi Hinojosa informed The Associated Press that Mitte was pronounced deceased around 1:30 p.m. at his residence in Brownsville, Texas. The cause of death remains unknown, pending an autopsy.

Mitte’s role as Walter White Jr., the son of Bryan Cranston’s character in “Breaking Bad,” spanned all five seasons of the show and garnered critical acclaim. His co-star Bryan Cranston paid tribute to Mitte on Instagram, praising his talent and positive energy, expressing fond memories of their time together on and off set. Mitte’s contributions extended beyond acting, as he also ventured into producing independent films and appeared in TV series like “Switched at Birth” and “Guardians of Justice.”

In addition to his artistic endeavors, Mitte actively supported organizations such as United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s, serving as an ambassador for their causes. He also established the Mitte Foundation to champion philanthropic initiatives and community projects focusing on disabilities. Mitte’s legacy as an actor and advocate will be remembered for his impactful contributions to raising awareness and fostering inclusivity.
