“Dog mauling survivor rebuilds face in inspiring journey”

A woman who underwent a traumatic incident where her nose was bitten off by a dog has shared her journey of rebuilding her face. Jordan Wilson, 29, was attacked by a friend’s Boerboel three-and-a-half years ago, resulting in the complete loss of her nose. Following the attack, she has undergone 16 surgeries, including nasal reconstruction using tissue from her forehead.

Despite the challenges she faced, Jordan is gradually regaining her confidence and appearance. She expressed that while she may never fully recover her previous self, she is receiving positive feedback from loved ones about her progress. Jordan emphasized the shift in her perspective towards life and beauty, acknowledging the significance of inner qualities over external appearances.

The incident occurred while Jordan was visiting her brother-in-law and his girlfriend, whose dog unexpectedly attacked her. Although the dog was deemed dangerous by the authorities, it was not euthanized. Jordan has mixed feelings about the dog’s survival, considering the severity of the attack and its potential implications.

Jordan has undergone several surgeries to reconstruct her nose, including forehead flap surgery to restore the structure. Despite the challenges and physical discomfort, she remains optimistic about the ongoing surgical procedures to refine her nose further. Jordan, an animal lover, now approaches animals with caution, especially around her children, due to her traumatic experience.

Reflecting on her journey, Jordan aims to raise awareness and provide support to others facing similar challenges. She shares her story online to offer comfort and understanding to individuals dealing with facial trauma, emphasizing the importance of community and shared experiences in overcoming adversity.
