Labour MPs’ Whip Reinstated After Suspension

Four Labour MPs who were previously suspended have now had their party whip reinstated following discussions with the Chief Whip. Brian Leishman, Chris Hinchliff, Neil Duncan-Jordan, and Rachael Maskell, who were suspended in July for breaching party discipline, have been welcomed back after a review of their conduct.

The MPs had voted against the government in July over disability benefit cuts, a move that led to the plans being scrapped. Rachael Maskell expressed gratitude for having the whip restored and reiterated her commitment to Labour values and serving her constituents in York.

Brian Leishman emphasized the importance of having the whip reinstated, highlighting the Labour Party’s role in effecting necessary societal changes. Neil Duncan-Jordan, with a long history in the Labour and trade union movement, stated his dedication to working for his constituents and upholding Labour’s principles.

Chris Hinchliff, after positive discussions with the Chief Whip, reaffirmed his focus on serving the communities of North East Hertfordshire and contributing to Labour’s mission of prioritizing people and nature over profit.
