“71 Branches to Close as Lloyds Banks Embrace Online Trend”

Three major high street banks, part of the Lloyds Banking Group, have announced the closure of 71 branches next year due to the increasing trend of online banking. The closures will affect 40 Lloyds branches, 14 Halifax locations, and 17 Bank of Scotland sites. Customers of these banks can utilize branches across all three entities for their daily banking needs. Additionally, they can explore the option of banking hubs positioned in shared public spaces on the high street.

A spokesperson from Lloyds Banking Group highlighted the shift in customer banking behavior, with over 21 million customers opting for apps to manage their finances. The group aims to cater to evolving preferences by offering a mix of digital convenience and in-person services. In addition to the mobile app, customers can conduct their banking activities at Lloyds, Halifax, or Bank of Scotland branches, utilize the Post Office, or deposit cash at over 30,000 PayPoint locations.
