Apple has introduced an upgraded version of its popular AirTag, a small tracking device that helps users locate lost items easily. The new AirTag features an improved Ultra Wideband chip, enhancing its tracking range significantly. This update increases Precision Finding by up to 50%, making it simpler to find lost items even from a distance.
Moreover, the new AirTag boasts a redesigned internal speaker that emits sounds 50% louder than its predecessor, aiding in locating the device in hard-to-reach places. Apple has also enhanced privacy features by ensuring that AirTags do not store location history on the device and all communications with the Find My network are encrypted end-to-end.
Additionally, the new AirTag seamlessly integrates with the Share Item Location feature on iOS, allowing users to securely share an item’s location with trusted parties, such as airlines, to aid in recovering lost belongings. The AirTag is now available for purchase on apple.com/uk and the Apple Store app, with prices starting at £29 for a single AirTag or £99 for a pack of four, offering a more affordable option compared to the original model.
