Drone rescues man from floodwaters in Vietnam

In a remarkable event, a drone successfully rescued a man from dangerous floodwaters in Vietnam. The farm worker, Nguyen Van Hat, was stranded on an island in Dak Lak province as the water levels rapidly increased, prompting a rescue operation.

Video footage captured on Friday morning depicted a large drone hovering above the turbulent floodwaters. A life buoy was then lowered from the drone on sturdy straps, allowing Nguyen, aged 49, to grasp onto it as the drone battled against the strong current to pull him to safety.

Despite facing challenges from the forceful floodwaters, the drone managed to lift Nguyen into the air and transport him across the river to safety. Nguyen had been working on a sandbar when he became trapped by the rising river.

Local rescuers, assisted by another farmer who brought the drone, quickly organized the rescue operation. A buoy was attached to the drone, which was then flown over to where Nguyen was stranded.

Authorities, upon discovering Nguyen on the island amidst the Serepok River, decided to employ the drone due to the escalating water levels. The drone successfully brought Nguyen back to shore, averting a potentially dangerous situation.

The incident occurred in the midst of severe flooding in Vietnam, with reports indicating that 90 individuals have lost their lives and 12 are still missing. The country experienced heavy rainfall in late October, causing widespread flooding and landslides in various regions.

In Dak Lak province, a 61-year-old farmer recounted how he and his wife were stranded on their metal roof for two nights as floodwaters rapidly rose. He described the devastation in their neighborhood, emphasizing the extensive damage caused by the flooding. As of the weekend, four areas in the province remained inundated, as confirmed by officials.
