Louis, a resident of Sutton Coldfield, passed away on September 24, 2021, with an official report from the Health and Safety Executive attributing fault to SnowDome Ltd for failing to ensure customer safety during tobogganing activities, including the one in which Louis was involved.
Our review of SnowDome Ltd’s financial statements reveals a substantial increase in profits in the three years post the incident. The company recorded a pre-tax profit of £2,028,759 for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2024, compared to £2,573,536 in the previous year and £1,998,567 for the year ending September 30, 2022.
Despite the parents’ plea for a full inquest into Louis’ death being denied, they expressed their ongoing struggle with the situation. Louis’ mother, Natalie, shared her family’s emotional distress, highlighting their need for closure and the impact on their other son. Louis’ father emphasized the ongoing pain and uncertainty they face without a resolution.
The HSE investigation into the incident revealed the circumstances leading to Louis’ tragic death during a tobogganing event at SnowDome. The company’s failure to maintain customer safety protocols and inadequate risk assessment for tobogganing activities were key factors contributing to the accident. SnowDome Ltd admitted guilt in breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act, leading to a fine of £100,000 and additional costs.
