A significant funding boost is set to enable patients to access a variety of healthcare professionals, including GPs, nurses, dentists, and pharmacists, all under one roof in numerous neighborhood health centers. The initiative, known as the Neighbourhood Health Service, will kick off with 250 integrated health hubs in the most deprived regions of the country, aiming to provide quality healthcare closer to patients’ homes.
Initially targeting areas with high levels of deprivation, the program will prioritize enhancing GP access and supporting patients dealing with complex health issues like diabetes and heart failure. This move comes in response to the decline in healthcare services in underserved communities due to years of austerity, resulting in unequal access to medical care and delayed treatments.
The upcoming Budget announcement is expected to outline plans for reducing NHS waiting times, cutting debt, and addressing the cost of living.
