The 41-year-old football icon’s contract with Al-Nassr in Riyadh, inked in December 2022, is set to expire next June, with Ronaldo indicating to Vogue magazine that retirement is on the horizon.
“I believe this year might be my final one in football, and I aim to leave behind a remarkable legacy,” Ronaldo shared. The Portuguese forward, renowned for his impressive tally of 976 career goals, recently tied the knot with his long-time partner, Georgina Rodriguez.
“I have my future all planned out,” Ronaldo explained. “There are numerous activities to keep me occupied as football’s potential departure could create a void that needs filling in various ways, not just one. I look forward to having more fun, traveling extensively, engaging in padel – a sport I truly enjoy, and continuing to cherish the rewards of our hard work. It has been a journey of 25 years filled with substantial sacrifices.”
The current season in the Saudi Pro League marks Ronaldo’s 25th year as a professional player. Throughout his career, he has clinched five Ballon d’Or accolades and lifted five UEFA Champions League trophies.
