There were reports of an individual causing panic at an army base, prompting authorities to advise residents to remain indoors. The Hinesville Police Department confirmed to local media that a lockdown was initiated at Fort Stewart in Georgia due to the presence of the individual in a residential area. Fort Stewart Hunter Army Airfield communicated via social media that a shelter-in-place order was in effect on the base as law enforcement responded to the ongoing situation, urging individuals to stay inside.
Shortly after, the military base announced on social media that the shelter-in-place directive had been lifted but cautioned people to avoid the Bryan Village area due to the situation still unfolding. Fort Stewart officials later specified that the incident was confined to Ardennes Court on the base and was isolated. Law enforcement were called at approximately 4:38 pm local time to address an issue involving a distressed soldier, as reported by local outlet WTOC. Authorities clarified that no gunfire had occurred during the incident.
