Upon arriving in the city on Tuesday evening, our team observed cars navigating through deep puddles near Harry Reid International Airport. Such scenes are not uncommon when sudden rain showers hit this desert city.
By Wednesday morning, the sun had returned, and most of the standing water had evaporated. Visiting the Linq Hotel, where many videos were filmed, we noted a significant reduction in the water levels compared to the previous day.
Despite inquiries, F1 officials remained silent on the weather concerns, indicating no anticipated impact on the race weekend. Showers returned later on Wednesday during media activities, but no additional standing water issues were reported.
More rain is forecasted for Thursday evening and Friday morning, but conditions are expected to improve for the weekend, with a dry race expected on Saturday night.
Organizers are optimistic that the wet weather won’t deter spectators, as tourism in the city has declined. Ticket prices for the Las Vegas Grand Prix have been slashed, leading to a surge in sales compared to the previous year.
Lando Norris currently leads the championship, with a comfortable margin over his teammate Oscar Piastri, who is struggling to regain form. Max Verstappen remains in contention mathematically but faces a significant points gap to catch up to the leader.
