Despite his win, the reigning champion faced a tough challenge. Labanauskas, ranked 95th globally, impressively secured the first leg with a 130 checkout on the bullseye. The Lithuanian pushed both initial sets to deciding legs. Littler eventually triumphed over Labanauskas, a former World Championship quarter-finalist, setting up a second-round encounter with either David Davies from Wales or Mario Vandenbogaerde from Belgium.
Reflecting on his performance, Littler expressed satisfaction with the win, acknowledging the initial nerves but finding his rhythm after winning key legs. He emphasized the significance of the first set in the match.
