A 30-year-old married art teacher named Nicole Hernandez, also known as Nikki Baird, is accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student in her Jeep. The teacher allegedly initiated inappropriate contact by befriending and grooming the boy, ultimately leading to multiple instances of sexual activity starting in 2024. Hernandez, who had previously been honored as ‘teacher of the month,’ reportedly bombarded the teen with disturbing messages, expressing desires to be with him despite being married.
Hernandez and the student first met at a middle school in Kansas before their relationship escalated when they reconnected at Wichita North High School. The teacher allegedly isolated the boy from his peers and persuaded him to engage in physical affection outside of school. The student, feeling pressured, eventually agreed to have sexual relations with Hernandez, who reassured him that they wouldn’t face consequences as he was graduating.
The relationship continued even after the student realized its inappropriateness and manipulation. He disclosed the situation to his family, sharing nude photos and notes from Hernandez with investigators. Hernandez was arrested on May 22 and is scheduled to appear in court on December 19.
