Tragedy struck at the Tayto factory in Co Meath, Ireland, where a man in his 60s lost his life.
The man, identified as an employee of an independent potato supplier, was involved in an incident this morning at the premises in Kilbrew, Ashbourne, Co Meath. Authorities, including Gardai and emergency services, promptly responded to the scene.
Tayto has released a statement expressing its commitment to cooperating with investigations regarding the unfortunate event. The family of the deceased has been notified.
The company conveyed: “We are deeply saddened by the fatal incident involving an employee of an independent potato supplier that occurred this morning at our Ashbourne, Co. Meath site.
“Authorities arrived promptly at the scene, and we are fully cooperating with their inquiries. We will also collaborate closely with all relevant parties, including the Health & Safety Authority.
“Ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone on our premises is our paramount concern, and we are dedicated to aiding any investigations into today’s tragic occurrence.
“The family of the deceased has been informed, and our thoughts are with them, along with their friends and colleagues, as they cope with this immense loss.
“Tayto Snacks Ltd. will refrain from further comments while investigations are in progress.”
John O’Connor, the Managing Director, expressed, “We are devastated by today’s incident, and our thoughts and prayers are with the individuals affected by this tragic loss of life.”
According to a spokesperson from the Gardai as reported by DublinLive: “Gardaà and emergency services swiftly responded to a fatal workplace accident in the Ashbourne, Co. Meath area this morning, on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
“An individual in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was transferred to Our Lady’s Hospital Navan for a post-mortem examination.
“The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) has been notified and will initiate its own investigation.”
