The Met Office has predicted snow for this week as temperatures are set to drop. Cardiff saw a high of 14.8C on Monday, but the mercury will fall steadily, reaching lows of 3C by Saturday.
A low-pressure system moving northeast today will bring rain to various regions, especially Wales and the Northwest of England. With decreasing temperatures, there is a likelihood of snow on higher terrain, including the Cairngorms in Scotland, parts of Aberdeenshire, and possibly Snowdonia in north Wales later in the week.
The Met Office’s extended forecast indicates that central and northern parts of the UK will likely experience colder and drier conditions with frosts and wintry showers on high ground. Southern regions may initially remain cloudier, milder, and wetter. However, a shift towards colder and drier weather is expected in the coming week.
Netweather, an independent weather forecasting company, also suggests the possibility of snow this week. Meteorologist Jo Farrow mentioned that temperatures will drop to seasonal levels, with Cardiff forecasted to be more than 4C colder on Saturday compared to Monday.
While northern regions may see frost and snow showers, temperatures are expected to align with November norms. Southern areas might retain milder conditions into the weekend. Additionally, there will be significant rainfall, particularly in western regions, due to low-pressure systems moving in from the Atlantic.
Weather warnings for rain are in place for nearly 40 areas, raising concerns about potential flooding, including in south Wales. Hull received over 30mm of rain on Monday, while Cranwell, Lincolnshire, experienced a 25.4mm downpour in just a few hours.
