“Vodafone Launches AI Scam Call Protection”

Vodafone Introduces AI-Powered Scam Call Protection Service

Smartphone users are all too familiar with the annoyance of receiving unwanted phone calls. Recent data reveals that on average, UK consumers are bombarded with eight of these calls each month, many of which are attempts to extract personal information and credit card details for fraudulent purposes.

To combat this rising issue, Vodafone has unveiled a new feature called Scam Call Protection, designed to safeguard its customers. Leveraging artificial intelligence (AI), this service can identify and flag suspicious calls, including those related to fraud, spam, scams, and nuisance calls.

Operating discreetly in the background, the system scrutinizes all incoming calls to users’ phones. If any potentially dubious activity is detected, customers will receive a straightforward on-screen notification warning them about the call’s possible fraudulent nature.

According to Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at Vodafone, spotting scam calls has become increasingly challenging, leaving people feeling vulnerable. He emphasized that Scam Call Protection offers an additional layer of security by continuously monitoring and flagging known or suspected scam calls in real-time.

This enhancement is a part of Vodafone’s Secure Net Mobile platform, which already includes advanced parental controls, round-the-clock ID monitoring to prevent identity theft, and immediate virus and malware protection.

Interested individuals can trial the service for free for three months, after which it is available at a monthly subscription fee of £2. Vodafone aims to reinforce its commitment to providing comprehensive digital security solutions that empower users to feel safer, informed, and in control of their online activities.
