Prison Officer’s Illicit Affairs Unveiled in Court

A female prison officer who engaged in a sexual relationship with a prisoner in a jail’s prayer room and sent him love letters containing drugs broke down in court today upon learning she could be sentenced to several years in prison.

Isabelle Dale, 23, was observed with convict Shahid Sharif, 33, in the worship area at HMP Coldingley in Surrey, with two inmates acting as lookouts. After a brief encounter, Dale was seen adjusting her belt as she exited alongside Sharif, who she had affectionately referred to as ‘Sneaks.’

Simultaneously, Dale was involved in a romantic relationship with another inmate, Connor Money, 28, who was serving time for a fatal car crash during a police chase. Sharif, sentenced to twelve years, was later transferred to HMP Swaleside in Kent, but the illicit relationship persisted, with Dale even purchasing an engagement ring.

Dale’s involvement extended to managing Sharif’s drug-dealing activities through Snapchat, sourcing drugs from associate Lilea Sallis, 27. Although Dale admitted feeling ‘privileged’ to be with Sharif, she denied engaging in sexual activities within the prison or smuggling drugs.

Following an eight-day trial at Southwark Crown Court, Dale was found guilty of two counts of misconduct in a public office and conspiracy to convey prohibited items into the prison. Sharif admitted to conspiring with Dale and others to bring drugs into the facility, while Sallis denied involvement in the conspiracy.

While both Dale and Sallis were granted bail until sentencing in January, the presiding judge warned them of the gravity of their offenses, indicating an inevitable custodial sentence. Despite being emotionally prepared, the judge emphasized the certainty of imprisonment on the sentencing date.

Throughout the trial, evidence detailed the intimate interactions between Dale and Sharif, including steamy love letters and discussions of future plans. Dale professed deep affection for Sharif and expressed commitment to standing by him upon release.

Dale’s arrest during a visit to Sharif at HMP Swaleside revealed her intent to smuggle drugs into the prison. Sharif’s instructions to Dale regarding drug smuggling procedures were also disclosed, highlighting their illegal activities within the correctional facility.

Furthermore, Dale’s interactions with other prisoners and her defense of her relationship with Money shed light on the complexities of her involvement. Despite facing serious charges, Dale maintained her loyalty to Sharif, citing threats and emotional manipulation as factors in her actions.

The trial uncovered a web of illicit activities orchestrated by Dale, Sharif, and accomplices, ultimately leading to legal repercussions for all involved. As the case unfolds, the ramifications of these actions within the prison system are brought to light, prompting a closer examination of security protocols and staff conduct.
