“Young Officer Battles Terminal Cancer, Fulfills Bucket List”

A young police officer, Shanice Bennett, faces a terminal breast cancer diagnosis after her initial concerns were dismissed by a GP who claimed she was too young to have the disease. At 23, she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in 2023, underwent treatment, and achieved remission. However, the cancer returned aggressively, spreading to her liver, lungs, and bones.

Shanice, from Sittingbourne, Kent, recounted how her GP initially brushed off her symptoms, prompting her to advocate for further evaluation due to her family’s cancer history. Despite being told nothing would come of it, she persisted, leading to the discovery of her cancer.

Following rounds of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, a mastectomy, and lymph node removal, Shanice entered remission but later experienced severe back pain, mistaking it for fatigue. A visit to A&E revealed the cancer’s return, now at stage 4, with no cure.

Uncertain about her prognosis, Shanice remains proactive, creating a bucket list that includes trips to various destinations and attending an Ariana Grande performance. She shares her journey on TikTok and fundraises on GoFundMe for her bucket list aspirations. Those interested in supporting Shanice can contribute to her GoFundMe campaign.
