“Russian Teen Kills Mother Over Social Media Ban”

A 13-year-old girl in Russia allegedly caused the death of her mother after being forbidden from using social media. The incident occurred in St. Petersburg, where the girl reportedly attacked her mother, set fire to their home, and inflicted wounds on herself. Initially, the girl claimed that an intruder committed the crime, but later confessed to stabbing her mother during an argument over internet usage.

According to reports, the girl accused her mother of being controlling and restrictive, leading to tensions in their relationship. Law enforcement sources mentioned that the teen recreated scenarios from online games during the tragic event, suggesting premeditation. The girl, who lived with her mother following her parents’ separation, is now hospitalized.

Although a criminal case for murder has been initiated by the Russian Investigative Committee, the girl, being underage, cannot be tried for her mother’s death due to legal constraints on criminal responsibility in Russia. The situation has raised concerns about the impact of online content on young individuals and the need for parental guidance in monitoring internet activities.
