A woman in Texas, USA, is facing serious charges after allegedly leaving her disabled daughter locked in a dog kennel, causing her to scream for help. Kandy Thompson, 60, from Anson, has been accused of criminal negligence and kidnapping for confining her 22-year-old daughter, who has special needs, in the backyard enclosure of their home. The incident was brought to light by a neighbor who recorded a video showing the daughter pleading and expressing fear from behind the fence.
The shocking case has drawn the attention of state adult protective services, leading to multiple charges, including aggravated kidnapping, against Thompson. A video captured by neighbor Justin Anderson confronting Thompson and later shared online revealed the distressing situation as the daughter’s cries could be heard in the background. The concerned neighbor questioned Thompson’s actions, to which she responded about the daughter’s behavior, leading to further distress for the girl.
Thompson now faces accusations of aggravated kidnapping, injury to a disabled person, and criminal negligence, among other charges. Anson Police Chief Daniel Graziose disclosed that at the time of Thompson’s arrest, there were two adult foster children in her home, including the daughter in question. The neighborhood has been shaken by the news, with one neighbor expressing disbelief and gratitude towards the neighbor who intervened.
It was revealed that Thompson, who previously fostered numerous children with her late husband, had adopted the daughter as a toddler. The duration and frequency of the daughter’s confinement in the kennel remain unclear. Following the incident, the daughter was taken to the hospital for treatment and has since been released.
