A woman has been taken into custody in connection with the tragic death of her young son shortly after initiating a crowdfunding campaign to assist with their financial needs. Raven Louise Broniecki, aged 29, is facing charges of involuntary manslaughter, cruelty to children, criminal negligence causing excessive mental or physical pain in the second degree, and reckless conduct, as confirmed by law enforcement authorities.
Limited information has been disclosed by officials regarding the incident, withholding details about the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death and the basis for the charges against his mother. Broniecki’s arrest occurred subsequent to her launch of a GoFundMe campaign, which has since been removed, seeking donations for the funeral expenses. She identified her son as Keith Richard and expressed her grief in the deleted fundraiser, highlighting the financial strain they faced due to the unexpected loss.
The Hinesville Police Department in Georgia verified Broniecki’s apprehension, noting that she was released after posting a $22,300 bond following a one-day detention period.
In a separate case, a mother and her former partner have been accused of causing the death of her three-year-old son to make room for a child they planned to have together. The lifeless body of little Matthew Maison was discovered by his caregivers in his home in Port Huron Township, Michigan, on February 18, 2018.
The child’s mother, Amanda Maison, and her then-boyfriend, Maurice Houle, were arrested in connection with the tragic incident. Autopsy results revealed that Matthew succumbed to injuries from blunt force trauma and potential suffocation.
The former couple reportedly confessed to mistreating the young boy upon their arrest, as previously indicated by prosecutors. Maison, aged 33, admitted guilt to a charge of second-degree homicide in relation to her son’s demise during a court appearance on November 5, acknowledging her abusive actions towards Matthew.
Maison disclosed to the court that she had subjected her son to physical harm, including pushing his head against a wall during a disciplinary moment at their residence. She admitted to complicity in concealing the abuse from authorities and participating in efforts to hide the circumstances of Matthew’s death from law enforcement, as per the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office.
