Bulgaria has been identified as the prime destination for an economical summer escape this year, recommended for families. TravelSupermarket, a travel website, unveiled a list of the most budget-friendly countries for those seeking a cost-effective all-inclusive sunny holiday in 2026. Bulgaria secured the top position, offering an average price of £760 per person for a week-long stay. Following closely behind were Morocco at £852 and Malta at £862 per person for a seven-night vacation.
The analysis was based on family holiday searches conducted between October 5 of last year and the previous week, focusing on travel dates between May and September 2026. The study revealed significant price variations among popular travel destinations.
Among the 13 top destinations studied, Bulgaria saw a £54 per person decrease, representing a 7% drop in average prices compared to the previous summer. On the contrary, Cyprus emerged as the most expensive option at £1,186 per person.
Spain, a perennial favorite among British tourists, including the Balearic and Canary Islands, secured the fourth spot on this year’s list with an average cost of £888 per person, maintaining stable prices from 2025. Turkey ranked 11th at £1,057, while Greece followed in 12th place at £1,096.
Croatia was listed as the 10th cheapest destination for the upcoming summer, with an average cost of £1,046 per person. However, the typical holiday expenditure in Croatia has decreased by 12% since the previous year, making it £136 more affordable this summer.
For families considering long-haul destinations, TravelSupermarket highlighted Cape Verde as the most cost-effective option at £1,247 per person, succeeded by the United Arab Emirates at £1,297, the Dominican Republic at £1,664, and Mexico at £1,694.
Chris Webber, the head of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, commented, “Bulgaria appears poised to regain its status as the preferred affordable all-inclusive vacation spot. Despite price increases, Tunisia and Morocco remain among the top five cheapest countries, offering excellent value for families. The 12% price reduction in Croatia is particularly good news for families, as it had started to gain a reputation for being expensive, especially after adopting the Euro in January 2023.”
