Double Cold Weather Payments were distributed to certain households this week following snowfall in various parts of the UK.
These Cold Weather Payments amount to £25 each and are granted when the average temperature in your area drops to zero degrees or below for seven consecutive days. Multiple payments are possible if there are repeated periods of freezing temperatures.
Eighteen postcode regions have now qualified for two Cold Weather Payments, totaling £50, triggered on December 30 and January 6.
If you are receiving benefits or mortgage support from one of the specified areas, you may be eligible for a Cold Weather Payment. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) administers these payments, with the scheme set to continue until March 31, 2026.
Cold Weather Payments are not applicable in Scotland, where they have been substituted by the Winter Heating Payment worth £59.75.
