Amazon has introduced a new addition to its lineup of streaming devices, offering features that surpass current models. Priced at £39.99 and set to be available later this month, the Fire TV Stick HD is the latest entry-level device from the tech giant. Despite its affordable price point, it boasts several enhancements, including a significantly slimmer and more stylish design compared to its predecessor.
The new Fire TV Stick HD is now 30% narrower, making it easier to fit behind TVs and highly portable for users on the go. An added benefit of this device is that it draws power from the TV’s USB port, eliminating the need for a separate power adapter.
Amazon stated, “The new Fire TV Stick HD is our slimmest streaming device yet, with a reduced volume and width compared to previous models, and optimized for Direct Power through the TV’s USB port, allowing for a more compact placement behind a TV.”
Similar to other Fire TV Sticks, it provides instant access to popular streaming services like Disney+, Apple TV, Prime Video, iPlayer, ITVX, and Netflix. Additionally, it includes a user-friendly remote with Alexa voice search and quick-access buttons for launching apps swiftly.
While the device doesn’t support 4K viewing, it offers full HD content, which is suitable for most households. Amazon highlights that the new Fire TV Stick HD delivers noticeable speed improvements over previous HD models, being more than 30% faster on average. This translates to quicker start-up times and faster app loading.
Moreover, it comes equipped with the latest Fire operating system, offering a more streamlined user experience, enhanced recommendations, and a more organized interface for content discovery. The Fire TV Stick HD will be released on April 29th at a price of £39.99.
