Asda has introduced a new pricing guarantee, offering lower prices than Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons on thousands of everyday items. The supermarket now provides more than 2,300 products at prices below its competitors, including fresh meat, produce, chilled goods, core groceries, and bakery items.
During January, Asda customers will receive 10% cashback in their Asda Rewards Cashpot for all in-store fresh produce purchases. Rachel Eyre, Asda’s Chief Customer Officer, expressed the supermarket’s commitment to helping families save money post-Christmas by providing the best prices on commonly purchased products. Asda Price ensures competitive pricing without the need for a loyalty card.
Following a challenging Christmas period, Asda experienced a decline in market share to 11.4% in the 12 weeks ending December 28, according to data from Worldpanel analysts. The grocer saw a 4.2% decrease in sales during this time, marking its 22nd consecutive month of sales decline. In contrast, rivals Tesco and Sainsbury’s attracted more customers, strengthening their positions ahead of Asda.
Tesco recently announced a pledge to maintain low prices on 3,000 branded products as part of its new Everyday Low Prices initiative. This move comes as supermarkets continue to compete for customer loyalty in the highly competitive retail market.
