A man, identified as Reynard Tyrone Hough, 33, is facing serious charges after his young daughter tragically drowned while on vacation. Hough allegedly confessed to police that he had been under the influence of alcohol and unknown narcotics when he took his one-year-old daughter into a hot tub in the early hours of the morning at an Airbnb they were staying at in Kissimmee, Florida.
Hough claimed that he had picked up his awake daughter from the master bedroom where her mother and another child were sleeping and brought her outside to the hot tub because she wanted to be with him. He admitted to falling asleep for about 20 minutes while holding his daughter in the hot tub. When he woke up, he realized something was wrong as his daughter felt limp. Despite rushing inside with the child, she unfortunately passed away shortly after being taken to the hospital.
Authorities arrived at the scene to find the young girl unresponsive and foaming at the mouth. Hough now faces charges of aggravated manslaughter of a child and child neglect with great bodily harm. The incident is currently under investigation by law enforcement.
According to safety guidelines provided by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, children under five years old should not use hot tubs, and parents are advised to closely monitor their children around hot tubs, ensuring they have a secure, lockable cover. Hot tubs, while popular, come with risks, as there have been reported cases of drowning deaths associated with their use.
