Millions of Gmail users are now receiving a significant update from Google. The tech giant has announced the rollout of a new feature allowing users to change their email addresses, providing a solution for those unhappy with their current Gmail account names.
Google stated that users can now modify their Google Account username, the part before “@gmail.com”, used for accessing various services like Gmail, Photos, and Drive. The update ensures that both the old and new email addresses function simultaneously, preventing users from missing any incoming emails.
Moreover, Google assured that the update will not impact any data stored in users’ accounts, such as photos, messages, or emails. While this change is welcomed, it is currently only available in the United States, leaving users in the UK waiting for its arrival.
For US users, Google advised accessing the Google account settings, selecting personal info, then email, and finally the Google account email option to change to a new and unique username. Users are encouraged to review their settings periodically to check for the update availability.
